Exporting and Importing Opt Outs and Opt Ins

Users can export and import opt outs as well as import opt ins using the Opt Outs page in Spoke (found on the administration dashboard). Once you have navigated to the Opt Outs page, you can take any one of the following actions:

How to Export Opt Outs

On the opt outs page you have the option to export all opt outs within this Spoke organization or you can select campaigns or manually uploaded lists of opt out data.

Export All Opt Outs

To export all opt outs within the Spoke organization, click "Export All" and you will receive an email with a link to the CSV. It may take a moment for the email to be sent. Click the link within the email and your browser will download the file.

Export Selected Opt Outs

You also have the option to selectively export opt outs by campaign. Use the search function on the right side of the opt out grid to narrow down the campaigns you would like to select. Select the campaigns by clicking the checkbox next to each individual campaign or list or select the checkbox at the top to select all campaigns and lists on the page. Once selected, click "Export Selected" and you will receive a CSV that contains only opt outs from those campaigns or manually uploaded numbers.

The CSV will be sent via email with a link. It may take a moment for the email to be sent. Click the link within the email and your browser will download the file.

How to Import Opt Outs

Importing opt outs allows one to opt out phone numbers manually. You can type or paste cell numbers into a field or you can load a CSV file containing the phone numbers.

To import opt outs, select the "Import Opt Outs" button and then select "Upload CSV or "Paste Numbers." If uploading the CSV, you only need to create a CSV with a column that has the header "cell" and that contains all of the phone numbers that you would like to opt out. If inputting numbers via the "Paste Numbers" option, you can separate the phone numbers by commas or by new lines. Phone numbers in all conventional formats are permitted; non-numeric characters (e.g. dashes and parentheses) can be optionally included.

Once completed, the opt outs will show up in the list as "Manually Uploaded."

How to Import Opt Ins

Sometimes you may find that a phone number was accidentally opted out and you need to undo the opt out. The import opt in functionality exists so you can undo your opt outs.

Note: The use of "opt in" in this context is not for contacts that opt into your campaign but rather as an undo of numbers that were already opted out.

To import opt ins, select the "Import Opt Ins" button and then select "Upload CSV or "Paste Numbers." If uploading the CSV, you only need to create a CSV with a column that has the header "cell" and that contains all of the phone numbers that you would like to no longer be opted out. If inputting numbers via the "Paste Numbers" option, you can separate the phone numbers by commas or by new lines. Phone numbers in all conventional formats are permitted; non-numeric characters (e.g. dashes and parentheses) can be optionally included.

Note: If the recipient replies STOP, opting them in from Spoke isn’t enough for them to continue receiving texts. The contact will also need to reply START to the number they replied STOP to.
